A printable matrix is useful when you want to step away from the screen and think without notifications. Leave enough space for a few actions in each quadrant. A crowded page is a signal to narrow your active priorities, rather than a reason to write smaller.
PDF gives you a snapshot you can revisit or bring to a planning conversation. Use your browser’s print preview to check the page size, orientation, and number of pages. Long task lists may span multiple pages, so keep a compact matrix when a single sheet matters.
A CSV is a simple table rather than a styled workbook. You can filter the Quadrant column in Google Sheets or Excel, add a due date column, or build your own views. Spreadsheet edits stay in that file. Use the live matrix when you want to keep dragging tasks between quadrants.
Choose JSON when you want to return to the browser tool later or move your matrix to a different device. Unlike a share link, a backup can hold more than 30 tasks. Keep it somewhere you control, especially when the tasks include personal details.
Not sure what belongs in each quadrant? Start with the student example, revisit urgency versus importance, or schedule one meaningful task in the Q2 planner. Read the methodology for the framework behind the templates.
Simple answers before you get started.
Yes. The browser tool, printing, CSV export, and JSON backup are free and require no account. There are no paid template downloads on this page.
Set up the board below, open Print / Save as PDF, and choose your browser’s PDF destination. Print styles hide navigation, editing controls, and the surrounding guide. Landscape orientation works well for longer lists. Check the print preview before saving.
Select Empty matrix above the board, click Load, and confirm the replacement. Export a JSON backup first if you want to keep the existing tasks. Then use Print / Save as PDF to print the four empty quadrants.
Yes. Open the file in Excel, or use File, Import, Upload in Google Sheets. Each task is a row with a quadrant, notes, color name, and completion field. CSV transfers data; it does not preserve the visual four-quadrant layout or sync changes back to this tool.
Open Export on the matrix and select Import JSON. Choose a version 1 backup produced by this tool, review the task counts, and confirm. The import replaces your current board. Changes made in a spreadsheet cannot be imported as JSON without matching the expected format.
